My Writing

26 days until launch day!

The countdown is on! In just 26 days, my debut novel, The Book of Rebekah, will be out. Right now, I’m super busy getting everything ready for the launch. It’s a lot of hard work, but something that really keeps me going is reading the ARC (Advance Reader Copy) reviews as they trickle in.

I’m not gonna lie; when a good review comes in, it totally makes my day. It helps quiet that little voice in my head that whispers, “You’re not good enough.” Hearing that people enjoyed the book really helps me to keep going!

Today’s review came from a hero of mine, Dr Kit Heyam, from the University of Leeds. I absolutely LOVED their book Before We Were Trans: A New History of Gender.

“Before We Were Trans is a global history of gender nonconformity. It tells the stories of people who don’t fit into modern and/or Western trans categories – but who nonetheless show us that gender has never been fixed, essentialised, or unchallenged.”

It is such an honour that someone I admire so much has taken the time to actually read my book! Here’s what they had to say about The Book Of Rebekah-

“The Book of Rebekah is a compelling story of queer resilience and an inspiring, energising example of what can happen when trans writers embrace and engage with their own culture’s trans history.”

Thank you, Dr. Kit Heyam, you really made my day!
