Exciting Updates: Return to YouTube with New OSMO 3 Camera
June 1, 2024/
Welcome to my blog!
I’ve got some exciting updates to share about my YouTube channel. After ‘going dark’ for the last year, I am now back to posting videos, and it’s so nice to see that my subscribers have been waiting impatiently for my return!
If you don’t know the story of how we rescued a beagle from the rubbish dump, you may want to catch up on that here. Since her dramatic escape from certain death, Princess has been going from strength to strength. BUT she did smash my phone about a month after she arrived. It wasn’t her fault exactly—she got spooked by a door slamming in the wind and took out my phone while diving for cover. My husband replaced the screen, but the camera was never the same again. Since the phone was otherwise functional, I couldn’t justify buying a new one, and my YouTube channel slipped into the ‘too difficult’ pile.
Not anymore! Fast forward to today, and I finally have a new camera! It was a very unexpected gift from a family member who shares my passion for making videos. This camera is light years ahead of my old phone.
This is by far the nicest camera I have ever had.
This camera is embarrassed to be seen with me.
Osmo 3 Pocket
Some of the features of the OSMO 3 that I love:
High Resolution: I have never had 4k before. The first time I saw my face in 4k, I cried, but finally, you will be able to see my beautiful mountains as they deserve to be seen- in HD!
Fancy Gimbal: I didn’t even know what a gimbal was until I looked it up. It’s the fancy thing you see on television cameras that makes them move all smooth and silky. It is very different from my usual videos, which are typically super shaky because I am herding goats, walking a dog on the lead, and climbing a mountain while filming myself and trying not to die.
Storage: Now that I am not using my phone, I have a whole new bunch of storage problems, but honestly, they are good problems to have. I got a 256-gigabyte SanDisk Extreme micro SD card for the camera and a 1-terabyte external hard drive. It’s a bit of a drag organizing all my video files into folders and backing them up at the end of every day, but whenever I feel like complaining, I think about all the footage I deleted because my phone couldn’t fit any more videos of goats.
The whole experience of making videos with the OSMO 3 is much more rewarding now that the footage looks good, although I am still getting used to seeing my wrinkles in HD. It takes great still photos of the dogs, too, like this one of Princess…
